Cal Lutheran Participates in Suenos to Success

On September 24, Matthew Fienup (Executive Director, Center for Economic Research and Forecasting) participated in a Hispanic Heritage Month event for the U.S. Federal Reserve, entitled Sueńos to Success: Fueling Latino Entrepreneurship. The event included an address by Federal Reserve Governor Adriana Kugler and a presentation of the most recent State of Latino Entrepreneurship report by researcher Barbara Gomez. Following Dr. Gomez's presentation, Matthew was the moderator for a discussion of the importance of Latino entrepreneurship among a panel that included Joshua Montes, a research economist with the Board of Governors, Claire Kramer, a research economist with the New York Fed, and Martha Garcia Kampen, CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis. The virtual event had over 200 individual attendees in addition to many more attendees at watch parties across the Regional Banks. In other, pertaining news, the San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors led by Sup. Dawn Ortiz-Legg presented a Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation that included a mention of CERF's Latina GDP study. The local NBC affiliate KSBY covered this in its nightly news.
