Service After Graduation

AmeriCorps is a national network of programs that engages more than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in communities throughout the nation.

AmeriCorps offers several ways to get involved, from part-time local service programs to full-time residential programs. Members receive guidance and training so they can make a contribution that suits their talents, interests, and availability.

• AmeriCorps State and AmeriCorps National: AmeriCorps State and AmeriCorps National support a broad range of local service programs that engage thousands of Americans in intensive service to meet critical community needs.
  
• AmeriCorps VISTA: AmeriCorps VISTA provides full-time members to community organizations and public agencies to create and expand programs that build capacity and ultimately bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.
• AmeriCorps NCCC: The AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps is a full-time residential program for men and women, ages 18-24.  It strengthens communities while developing leaders through direct, team-based, national, and community service.

The Jesuit Volunteer Corps offers women and men an opportunity to work full-time for justice and peace. Jesuit volunteers are called to the mission of serving the poor directly, working for structural change in the United States, and accompanying people in developing countries. Since 1956 the Jesuit Volunteer Corpshas worked in collaboration with Jesuits, whose spirituality the volunteers incorporate in their work, community, and prayer life. The Jesuit Volunteer Corps offers the volunteers a year or more of experience that will open their minds and hearts to live always conscious of the poor, committed to the Church’s mission of promoting justice in the service of faith.

The Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a year-long service program for people 21 and over seeking to unite faith, social justice, community living, and simplicity. Volunteers are matched with non-profit organizations in ten metropolitan areas across the United States. They work full-time in various positions ranging from direct social services, to political advocacy, community organizing, education, and activism while living in intentional community.

In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps to promote world peace and friendship.
The Peace Corps' mission has three simple goals:

• Helping the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women.
• Helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served.
• Helping promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.

LEVN, the Lutheran Episcopal Volunteer Network, is an 11-month program of intentional Christian community, vocational discernment, and learning about social justice. We gather each week for evening prayer, dinner, and formation. The corps members live in intentional community in an apartment attached to our campus ministry center in Davis, CA. We're an ecumenical program in the Episcopal Service Corps network; applicants needn't be either Lutheran or Episcopal to apply—interest in Christian spirituality is the only expectation.

 LEVNeers are young adults aged 21-30 who have completed a bachelor's degree OR 3 years of continuous and/or cumulative professional experience OR an equitable combination of college coursework and professional experience, are drawn toward service and justice, and are interested in living in intentional Christian community. 
    
From the end of August to the end of July, corps members are provided housing, utilities, health coverage, spiritual direction, and a $535/month living stipend. They also offer a $1000 re-entry grant at the completion of the program. 
    
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
