Spanish Translation Services
Cal Lutheran has two categories of translators: staff translators, who work in administration but have agreed to take on this work in addition to their main duties; and professional translation services, which we contract on an as-needed basis.
How to Request a Translator
Contact University Editor Linda Martinez in the Marketing and Communications department at lkmartinez@CalLutheran.edu to put in your request, detailing what your job is, how long it is, and when you want the translation completed. Once we receive this information, we will pair you with an appropriate translator. After that, you will work directly with the translator.
Cal Lutheran Staff Translators
Some staff members are available to serve as translators for institutional internal messages (such as the regular letters that come by email from the president), and emergency communications (such as updates on on-campus crisis situations and instructions on what to do in those situations). Translators are paid on a per-document basis, and they will work directly with the Marketing and Communications team.
Professional Translators
These are the contractors who will handle large-scale materials (such as the admissions website) that outside audiences see (such as prospective students, donors).
Compensating Your Translator
Your department will be responsible for paying all translators, be they our staff translators or a third-party group.
Staff translators will receive a stipend upon completion of a translation service, and you can get the amount of the stipend from Marketing and Communications. When your job is complete, please fill out a Personnel Action Change form so that your translators can get paid. That form is available on our website.
If you are using third-party translators, you may work out payment directly with them.
