Frequently Asked Questions
Zoom
Zoom links are sent to all registered students via email. For classes, we send the links the morning of each class every week.
For lectures, we send Zoom links the evening before and again the morning of.
In all cases, we keep an eye out for late registrations and will send you the Zoom links individually.
If you can’t find your Zoom link, please contact us by email at fab@CalLutheran.edu or phone at 805-493-3290 and we will resend it to you. We watch our email address leading up to and during every class and lecture to ensure everyone gets in.
To find and keep track of your Zoom links, here are two tips we hope will be useful:
Search:
Every email app will have a “search” function. Try searching with words very specific to the course or meeting: words in the title of the course or the instructor’s name. These terms would likely be more effective for pulling up your specific link than “CLU,”, “FAB,” or even “ZOOM”.
File:
To effectively keep track of your Zoom links, we recommend creating “Folders” in your email app. Each app is a bit different, but it’s a way you can move and group emails you’d like to keep track of and access easily. In Gmail, these “Folders” are called “Labels” but serve the same purpose.
Experiencing Technical Difficulties?
As much as we would like to help troubleshoot technical issues, we only know so much. For most questions, it is best to contact the Help Desk. You can reach the Help Desk at 805-493-3698 or by email at HelpDesk@CalLutheran.edu (note for an urgent request, it is best to call).
Make sure to identify yourself as a Fifty and Better student and let them know what class/lecture you are having trouble with. With those simple identifiers, the technicians will be able to assist you relatively quickly.

This could be a problem with your cache. Browsers store a lot of information to help your system run faster each time you visit the site. Sites are updated frequently, but sometimes when you go to a link you have used 100 times, the link suddenly does not work. Chances are your browser is not finding the new update. Clearing your cache deletes the old information and allows you to start fresh.
This link will lead to instructions for clearing your cache: https://www.refreshyourcache.com/en/home/
If you are hesitant to follow the instructions, contact the Help Desk!
Zoom Recordings
In most cases, we do record our Zoom and HyFlex classes and lectures. If one is not being recorded, it will be stated with the course details on our website. You can also email us at fab@CalLutheran.edu to make sure.
In all cases, you need to be enrolled in the class or lecture to have access to the recording.
For courses and lectures, you will be sent instructions each week on how to access your recordings. Visit the Recordings page of our website, select the link for the recording you want to watch, and enter the password you were sent in your email exactly as shown (punctuation included).
Recordings are available via this process 24 hours after the class takes place. The recording link is typically available to watch for 30 days.
If you have any trouble, you can email us at fab@CalLutheran.edu for assistance.
Yes, if you would like a class or lecture recording, you need to be enrolled in the class or lecture first. Then follow the guidelines in the question above to access the recording.
For courses, we ask that you watch the recording within a month of the class ending. After that, we cannot guarantee that the recording will still be available.
For lectures, we recommend you watch the recording within 30 days. After that, we cannot guarantee that the recording will still be available.
Please refrain from sending links to people who are not registered for the class. If you know someone who would like the recording of a class or lecture, have them email fab@CalLutheran.edu for assistance.
