ARPA/HEERF III Funding - Fall 2021
(1) An acknowledgement that the institution signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
Institutions who received HEERF I grant funds under the CARES Act were not required to submit an application for the HEERF II or HEERF III grants. California Lutheran University received its HEERF III Grant Notification May 18, 2021. In keeping with the terms of acceptance of these funds, California Lutheran University will use no less than $4,707,812, in accordance with section 2003(7) of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants directly to students.
(2) The total amount of funds that the institution will receive or has received from
the Department pursuant to the institution's Certification and Agreement for Emergency
Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
California Lutheran University received $4,707,812 in emergency grants from the Department of Education
(3) The total amount of Emergency Financial Aid Grants distributed to students under
the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs as of the date of submission (i.e., as of the initial report and every calendar quarter thereafter).
From August 1, 2021– December 31, 2021, Cal Lutheran distributed $2,277,100 to students.
(4) The estimated total number of students at the institution that are eligible to
receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1)
and (a)(4) programs.
As of December 31, 2021, the total number of students eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants is estimated to be 2281 students.
(5) The total number of students who have received an Emergency Financial Aid Grant
to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
As of December 31, 2021, the total number of students who have received ARPA Emergency Financial Aid grants is 911.
(6) The method(s) used by the institution to determine which students receive Emergency
Financial Aid Grants and how much they would receive under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1)
and (a)(4) programs.
Emergency Financial Aid Grants were made available to students in two phases during the Fall 2021 semester.
Phase I:
August 2021, disbursed $1,162,500 to 465 traditional undergraduate students who filed a 2021-2022 FAFSA, were enrolled, and met the following criteria:

Phase II:
September 2021, disbursed $1,092,500 to 438 traditional undergraduate students who filed a 2021-2022 FAFSA or were classified as Dreamer, were enrolled, and met the following criteria:

September 2021 through December 2021, a total of $22,100 in Emergency Financial Aid Grants were disbursed to 8 International students through the Office of International Students and Scholars. International students were required to apply for emergency grant funding. (7) Any instructions, directions, or guidance provided by the institution to students
concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grants.
Emergency Financial Aid Grants were posted to the student’s self-service portal. Recipients of the grant were notified via email at their student email address of the award and an individualized pop-up message displayed when entering their myCLU student portal. The pop-up message allowed the student to authorize the emergency funds to be applied to their CLU student account balance or sent directly to them. Students who failed to respond within 30-days were automatically mailed a paper check at the address on file.
