Technology Requirements
Cal Lutheran utilizes Blackboard to enhance course learning and achieve the designated student learning outcomes. Technology requirements for the Blackboard Learn and Collaborate are as follow:

- Minimum computer requirements:
- Memory: 4 GB RAM or higher
- Hard Drive: 10% or more free space on your hard drive
- Broadband connection highly recommended – DSL or above
- Program(s) that can open Microsoft Office documents and PDFs (e.g. .doc, docx, .ppt, .pptx, .pdf, etc.)
- If you have a Windows operating system
- Browser: Firefox or Chrome
- Java 7 or Java 8
- If you have a Mac OS or Ubuntu
- Only use Firefox
- Oracle Java 7
- Linux
- Only use Firefox
- Java 7 or Java 8
- Blackboard Collaborate Launcher (can download when you first attempt join a Collaborate room in your Blackboard course)
- 256 MB RAM
- 20 MB free disk space
- Internet Access - 28.8 kbps speed or above (Broadband connection highly recommended)
- Soundcard
- A headset with microphone/headphones
- Program(s) that can open .doc, .ppt, and .pdf documents
- Optional:
- Webcam (recommended)
- Blackboard Learn App
- Download from your devices’ app store, select California Lutheran University as the school and sign in via myCLU

- If you need or want portable hardware, you can check out a laptop or iPad at the library
for the entire semester.
- A first-generation iPad is sufficient for participating in this course.

- 50Kbps: Audio-only recording
- 300Kbps: Recording consisting of screen capture, audio, and video
