Course Overview:

Every sports team has fans that want to see a championship won. Every nonprofit organization has fans too, whether they are donors, volunteers, stakeholders, Board and committee members, staff or communities served.

This leadership development course is all about delivering for your fan base. It delves into the basics and best practices of what it takes to build, lead, and sustain a high performing team in any organization by exploring JELL Company’s High Performance Team Model.

 

During the course, participants will examine best practices learned from personal trial and error, working under many bosses, as well observations about what many leaders do well…and poorly.  Specific topics covered will include:

  • Best vs. Worst bosses behaviors and impact on effort given to each
  • Economic impact of bad hires and why “Staffing” is critical
  • Leveraging a 9-box and “Talent Management Review” to build a “Staffing” plan
  • 5-Step process to eliminate mediocrity and poor performing employees in 90 days
  • Interviewing tips
  • 2-phase training approach (supported by 6 training best-practices)
  • Improving onboarding to improve speed to proficiency of New Hires
  • The 3 hats “Best” bosses wear and why 2 of them help maximize “Execution”
  • The Employee Fuel Gauge and how it helps drive ongoing direct report motivation
  • The A-C-E principle with best practices in Accountability – Communication – Empowerment to help guide every step of the process

Note:  This course will also include optional office hours six weeks after the course to check-in with participant successes and challenges.

John Jell

John Jell is the President of JELL Training & Consulting.

He most recently led global Learning & Development under HR for global energy drink leader Monster Energy. Prior to joining Monster, John spent 25 years with The Coca-Cola Company and Nestlé in Sales, Marketing, and L&D capacities. He has also worked for a privately held firm and venture capital holding as well as led a 501(c)3.

On multiple occasions over the years, John has also taken over teams that were struggling.  He turned them all around quickly after realizing, regardless of organization type, there were some basics and best practices to build, lead, and sustain high performing teams. These basics and best practices are the focus of his workshops to help all who attend become stronger leaders of higher performing organizations.

John has been supporting, coaching, and training leaders from front-line to C-level for over 20 years. Solving problems and making decisions are all in a day’s work as a leader. John has seen many good and bad decisions made, and their impact. His workshops teach leaders how to improve discipline and confidence in problem solving by trying to make the right decisions the first time around.
