Thingamajig II: A Printmaking/Ceramic Exploration

The advanced printmaking course focused on the methods, materials, and histories of Intaglio, relief, and monotype printing. The students visited the basic principles of the wood cut, solar plate intaglio, monotype viscosity, and image on. They produced several series of prints and acquired a keen eye for the process of pulling a final print. After furthering their basic knowledge of these processes they were able to explore ideas that pushed the boundaries of printing. They experimented with themes, ideas, and colors that allowed their creativity to show through. This course allowed for the students to demonstrate their improved drawing and composition skills. They were able to expand their understanding and awareness in the human condition in all of its diversity and artistic expression through the process of printmaking.
