Schedule of Events

This is an adventure tale with comic relief and realization. The bipedal tiger, Uno, during his quest for a magical box learns the distractions of alcohol. By trusting a stranger, Alex, a local surfer, Uno accidentally ingests alcohol and gets sidetracked on a humorous misadventure. Uno realizes that he must sober up to get his dreams back. Despite taking a detour, Uno’s original determination is the driving force that allows him to overcome this setback and achieve his goal. The objective of this project was to create an engaging story. The methods used to build the lore and characters were improvisation, brainstorming, and creative collaboration with my classmates.

Epic is a high fantasy story exploring the hero legend and the struggle for power. Using Joseph Campbell’s classic definition of a hero, Bob, the son of a dethroned nobleman, sets out on a quest to find a magical object. Throughout the story, Bob’s "will to power" is a prevalent theme as everyone eventually becomes consumed by their “desire to dominate.” Through an epic battle with his adversary, Ike, a corrupt warrior that fell from grace, Bob finds the object and has a realization that having a “will to power” does not mean he will succeed. Epic is an original story that is a mash-up of different classic myths. The intent of this project was to create an engaging story. Using methods such as improvisation, brainstorming and class collaboration, I elaborated on my concept and developed it into a full story.

This is a story of how greed and lust can corrupt a Wall Street stockbroker and inadvertently cause the 2008 stock market crash. The docu-drama/nonfiction begins with the banker, Robert Ponza, 45 years old, doing his daily routine as a broker: corrupting and stealing money from the masses by participating in insider-trading. We also observe the everyday lives of Stacey, Robert’s wife, and Destiny, the prostitute Robert regularly sees. We will analyze the choices Robert makes about money vs. his relationships with other people. Control is a theme as Robert wants to keep control of everything in his life, from his wife Stacey, to Wall Street, to Destiny. This story is similar in principle to "The Great Gatsby." The methods used to create this were brainstorming, creative development, and collaborating with my classmates.

"Wisdom" is a story of Sophie, a beautiful childless widow, who yearns for a daughter. Wisdom is a magical star who lived on the moon for many years, shoots off to Earth, and is transformed into a child once landing on the planet. Wisdom lives on earth all alone until Sophie finds her. The lady provides a home, food and, most of all, love for Wisdom. The story of Wisdom and Sophie shows how people become closer as individuals as well as how curiosity can be a positive force. Creative development, imagination, concept design, collaboration with classmates and computer graphics programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator and Apple iPad were used.

Chopper is the story of Lucas, a 27-year-old inventor who inherits a fortune when his father suddenly dies. While grieving over his dead father, he decides to take his dog, Felix, a border terrier, and go on a great journey across Death Valley in America. Lucas’s dog has a personality that is extraordinary. He can communicate with Lucas in a very human-like way, but he is a normal dog with no superpowers. The many humorous encounters they have with each other helps Lucas heal himself during the grieving process. The methods that I used to create this story are brainstorming, creative development, and collaborative interaction with my classmates.

“Floating Castles” is a mystical tale of heroic adventure and self-discovery. The story is set in the enchanted lands of Atlas, where magical creatures, humans, and sorcerers struggle under the influence of the evil, orphaned sorceress Chelsaria. Our unlikely hero, Pan, comes to power and grows from a young boy into the man he wants to be. Through the use of the ancient Dragon Relic, Pan internally discovers hidden qualities. He and various allies set out to dispel Chelsaria’s evil influence. As he goes through various external conflicts, Pan begins to look inward to find the answer to having an impact on his world. The purpose of this story was to prove that anyone, big or small, can accomplish anything with determination. “Floating Castles” is highly influenced by Christopher Paolini’s books, "Eragon" and "Brisingr." The methods that led to the creation of this story included improvisational brainstorming and peer review.

“The Mountain Score” is a story about two friends named Tim and Mickey who discover a magic musical score that puts the lives of their town’s citizens at stake upon being played. Their curiosity regarding the score’s potential powers represents natural human curiosity, and the havoc that they wreak across their town as a result of playing it is a representation of the dangers of unbridled curiosity. Eventually, Tim and Mickey learn the importance of exerting caution as they make decisions, and must endeavor to right the careless mistake that they have made. Upon realizing what they have done, the desire to protect others and atone for their actions becomes a prevalent theme. I created “The Mountain Score” through brainstorming and class collaboration. The project served as a way of teaching myself about the creative process. I crafted a basic concept, and expanded it into a story of its own.

“The Adventures of Otis” is an adventure-filled story of how someone’s past affects their present and future, and the strength that emerges from a bond of close friendship. In the story, Goldy, an infant goldfish, is abandoned by his family. This leads to his becoming a bitter and hateful goldfish. His dark past drives him to commit evil acts against Otis, a designer in his mid-twenties. Contrastingly, there is also the driving force of friendship between Magic the Monkey and Otis. Together these friends use the Lucky Amulet and determination in order to defeat Goldy and his evil tricks. In short, the literary themes in “The Adventures of Otis” are based on links: links to the past and links to other characters. The purpose of the story is to create a literary example of the creative process. The methods used to create this story include creative thinking, analysis, class collaboration and revision.

This is a story about how a mouse and a gorilla come together, go on a dangerous quest, and become the greatest of comrades. The adventure is sparked during a relaxed day on the beach in Japan which turns into a spontaneous journey to California to join the circus. Both Kojak and Johnson are very standout individuals but have completely different characters. They use their amazing and outrageous talents to dodge trouble, find their way around the world, and defeat their enemies. During their many challenges their friendship is tested and ultimately becomes stronger. Each of them learns that the secret to becoming and staying friends is to respect and inspire each other throughout the way. The purpose of this project was to invent an exciting story and the methods I used were creative development, imagination, concept design, and collaboration with classmates.

This is a story of courage in the face of hopelessness. “Cat Gul” explores the ideas of bravery, selfish desires, revenge, and how these concepts collide. A small cat, Gul, seeks out the mystical Koi Orb to end the Harshest Winter. Due to the consequences of his previous careless desires, Gul must embark on a journey to find the orb and save his realm from the wrath of the Hellhounds. A naturally selfish creature, Gul is forced to cast aside his own ambitions and aid those around him. As Gul travels the realm, he morphs into a guardian of hope during the sinister reign of the Hellhounds. Throughout the development of this concept, the methods of peer review, inspiration, brainstorming, and collaborative revision were utilized, permitting the story to morph from a simple concept into a hero’s tale.
