About
Dr. Rodolfo Lugo-Rios (Dr. Rudy) earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology, and Doctor of Psychology degrees from California Lutheran University. While earning his BS degree, he was inducted into the CLU chapter of Psi Chi and became President of the CLU chapter of Psi Chi and is still a strong proponent of Psi Chi membership.
Dr. Rudy has worked in a variety of locations including Ventura County Behavioral Health community mental health clinics, Ventura County Medical Center, the Child and Family Guidance Center, as a Behavioral Consultant for children with social deficits, at an Inpatient/Outpatient addiction recovery facility and as an Officer in the United States Army Reserve.
After earning his masters, Dr. Rudy began teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at CLU in addition to continuing clinical work in addiction recovery and in the US Army. Dr Rudy currently teaches a variety of courses at CLU, is a clinician and clinical supervisor at a local Intensive Outpatient clinic and is a Captain in the US Army Reserve operating as an Army Clinical Psychologist (73B).
Dr. Rudy holds specializations in, and experience working with, children, adolescents, and families, positive psychology, in-patient psychiatric units, culture-bound difficulties, immigration issues and primary care settings, including oncology, hematology, bariatrics, and general family medicine units and palliative care. However, Dr. Rudy now focuses on veteran issues, trauma processing work, and addiction recovery integrated with Existential and Mindfulness-Based Interventions.
