My Unstoppable Scholarship Story

I learned about the Professionals program when I applied to CLU as a transfer student from Moorpark College. My intention was to be a traditional student, but upon enrollment the counselors recommended the Professionals program since I was also a full time employee. The program just made more sense for my life and it was an absolutely amazing choice, I am so grateful CLU offers the Professionals program. As a first generation college student my education means so much to me. I will be the first in my immediate family to receive my degree. It’s years of hard work and dedication to myself and investing in myself. As I became a mother through this journey, that mission evolved. Now, it is so important to me to show my kids the importance of education. To show them, that no matter what path you take or how long it may take you, it is worth it and you will meet amazing teachers, administrators, and fellow students along the way.
That being said, being a mom of two young kiddos creates challenges. Scheduling, classes, and homework all work around my kids. That’s why I am always grateful for the helpfulness and grace of the staff. Everyone in the program is compassionate, kind, and helpful. The Unstoppable Scholarship was helpful by allowing me to pay for portions of my classes. That is a huge weight off my shoulders. Allowing me to take out smaller student loans and focus on the import stuff, like the next paper I have due.
I cannot say enough about the Professionals program, it’s been an amazing experience. Every single staff member, faculty, and student has taught me something. They are engaged and they care. They want to see all of us succeed. Just as much as we want to succeed. But I think the best part is getting to know everyone personally. Having my professors greet my children over Zoom classes and learn about their own kids/ family adventures. It shows just how much of a family the Professionals program truly is. The Professionals program has truly been a blessing and I will be forever grateful for the role everyone played in changing my life for the better.
