Teaching in the Fifty and Better (FAB) program
Submitted by Katherine Zoraster
I began my teaching career at a selection of Community Colleges and at California State University, Northridge. Although I loved the work, over the years, the apathy and lack of interest on the part of the students began to wear on me. Challenging my mental state more than my intellectual curiosity and interest, I began to question my ability as an educator and my purpose with my work. However, it has been through programs such as FAB at Cal Lutheran that I feel as though I have really found something worth doing. The students in this program are of such a high caliber that I feel constantly challenged to work up to their standards. I so enjoy the knowledge, insight and experience of everyone in the classes who add to the discussion and further increase my ability to discuss and enjoy the art and artists of our world. Every class, I just want to do better for the students. I feel very lucky and privileged to be involved in this wonderful program and to be part of the lives of such bright, interesting and intelligent people. ~Katherine Zoraster, Art Historian
