Kingsmen Shakespeare Company
Submitted by Mark Storer '89
I had the opportunity to act with Kingsmen on 3 different occasions in 2006, 2015 and 2019. In 2015, I’d been teaching Henry V for a few years in the Shakespeare class I taught at Camarillo H.S. The play had become important to me–in the most complex of ways, it was both an anti-war play, and a play about leadership and Nationalism with clear moments of true human tragedy and dignity, sometimes in the same scene. When I walked out on stage the first night of that play as Bardolph, I was suddenly aware of the weight of this story–and of Bardolph’s story of friendship, sacrifice and betrayal. I still think about that evening and I often think about the very fine people of KSC with whom I got to work. I couldn’t be more grateful.
