The Rider Boys
Submitted by Sandra Dubois
For decades sports have been viewed as a way to stay in shape, but the importance of sports goes much further than that. For example, playing sports teaches discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, accountability, and teamwork.
Recent studies have shown that exercise increases blood flow to the brain, leading to increased concentration, enhanced memory, stimulated creativity. In short, playing sports helps the brain function better. Also, socially, sports are a powerful tool that brings people together by creating a sense of community, by developing connections that bond people from all walks of life. We feel blessed with the opportunity the athletics department at California Lutheran University gave to our boys. The XC and Track team became a solid foundation for The Rider boys while attending CLU, as a matter of fact, the team relationships the boys made with their coaches and teammates remain solid and these relationships continue to exist after college. We continue to support CLU as a way of saying THANK YOU to the Cal Lutheran community and the athletics department.
