Dr. Sigmar Schwarz
Submitted by Edgar Aguirre '99
A kind man, Dr. Schwarz’ heart and intellect were given fully to his classrooms. I remember reading Elie Wiesel’s “Night” in the freshman English class he taught. The book impacted me profoundly. Dr. Schwarz created an environment and a language to process the enormity of the human condition, both to destroy and to persevere and create works of art and beauty.
In today’s world more than ever, our planet needs more educators like Dr. Schwarz who encourage intellectual curiosity and awareness of our shared narratives and inter connectivity. I am grateful for the rich and nurturing education I experienced at CLU, and Dr. Schwarz, along with all of the lovely professors who guided and supported me, have a HUGE place in my heart, now and forever.
