I thought this virus was going to pass. I thought this virus wasn’t gonna get in the way of my education, my job, or my family life or my mental health. But so far it has. I’m sure a lot of students will agree. Being home all the time and going to school online is really hard, its even harder to stay motivated. I cant imagine how seniors are feeling. Although working for CLU as a student worker was the best job I’ve had and paying me till the semester ends (which I’m very grateful for), I’ll most likely be displaced from my room that I rent off campus by the end of May and the government wont be helping me with a stimulus check (which would’ve bought me time during this pandemic). I rented a room off campus, took 2 hour bus rides to campus 5 days a week because I personally couldn’t afford student housing, and I couldn’t put that financial burden on my family. People ask all the time why I still go to CLU. Because I love it here. Yes, its a lot of hard work, especially now. But I love my job, the faculty, the students, the classes, the education I get here. Because the possibility of having a job during the summer and fall semester are getting slimmer, I don’t know where I’ll end up, but I hope people will keep following CDC guidelines of social distancing, because its the only way to beat this virus. For essential workers, I want to thank you for everything you’re doing, and we wouldn’t be able to make it without you. Thank you.
