"Rumors" by Neil Simon

Join the Theatre Arts Department for a fast-paced comedy about a dinner party gone wrong, where guests try to cover up the chaos after discovering their host injured.

Rumors is is sure to have audiences rolling in the aisles at the madcap hijinks of these lovably goofy bourgeois characters. Chris and Ken Gorman arrive at a fancy anniversary dinner party to discover the deputy mayor of New York is suffering a flesh wound from accidently shooting himself in the earlobe and his wife is nowhere to be found. They scramble to concoct a story to save their friend from scandal before the other guests arrive. Attempts to cover up the facts lead to confusions, mistaken identities and miscommunications galore as the evening spins out of control and hilarity ensues.

Set in the late 1980s in a posh suburb of New York, Rumors is a riotous farce by beloved Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon that comedically explores the idea that you can get away with anything if you are a good enough liar and the damage that rumors can inflict on their victims. The play has been called “the first no-holds-barred farce of his career.” Come laugh with us!

Admission is $10; free for Cal Lutheran faculty, staff and students with valid ID.
