Valentina: A performance by Ballet Nepantla

Join us for a special evening of dance and plática (informal conversation) with New York-based Ballet Nepantla as the group performs a historical ballet highlighting the strength and resilience of women in revolutionary Mexico. Valentina tells of wealth and power, hope and despair, struggle, loss and triumph.

In Nahuatl, the language of indigenous people from the Valley of Mexico, Nepantla means “in-between-spaces,” a fitting description of the company’s fusing of classical and contemporary ballet with traditional Mexican folklórico. Crossing these borders, Ballet Nepantla aims to move the human spirit from places of conflict and contention to places of peace and enlightenment.

Admission is free. The performance is an initiative of the Edinburg Dance Theatre.
