LGBTQIA+ History Month Lecture Lunch

Peter Carlson, PhD

LGBTQIA+ History Month Lecture Lunch

We invite you to a lecture lunch with Peter Carlson, PhD, as part of this year's Campus Ministry theme, Healing and Restoration.

The title for this lecture is "A Queer G-d."

Many people have heard the phrase "queer theology," but are understandably confused about what it means. Is it just about including queer people in religious communities? Is it about sex? Is it about pride parades? Is it dangerous? While it might touch on any of these, queer theology is a branch of theological thinking that is much bigger than any of them, or even the sum of them.

Carlson, associate professor of religion at Cal Lutheran, will offer a sort of "Queer Theology 101" to give the audience an introduction to the field, and to understand it better, and, in the process, offer everyone an opportunity to consider the possibility that G-d is more expansive and diverse than we'd previously imagined.
