Cal Lutheran offers a variety of scholarships to graduate students in addition to available government programs.

Graduate Academic Scholarship

Application Required - Graduate Academic Scholarships are available to graduate and credential students based on financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA or CADAA and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. This competitive scholarship may be awarded up to $2,500 per academic year, dependent on full or part-time enrollment status and number of terms attending.

This scholarship application is open:

  • June through August for ALL incoming and continuing students for the upcoming academic year, AND
  • January through February for NEWLY admitted Spring term students only.

Russell & Linda Young Scholarship (MBA, EMBA, MSIT)

Application Required - The Russell and Linda Young Graduate Scholarship is an annual award provided to outstanding applicants to the MBA, EMBA, or MSIT programs. Eligible applicants must complete the general graduate scholarship application, submit a Letter of Motivation, and be admitted before being considered for this scholarship.  Applicants must also have a minimum 3.50 upper division undergraduate GPA.  The scholarships will be awarded in the fall.

Gallegly Fellowship (MPPA)

Application Required - Every year, our MPPA graduate program awards recent graduates from an undergraduate program (from any university) the Gallegly Fellowship. Fellows don't just serve as ambassadors of the MPPA program at public events, they also receive a scholarship amounting to 50% of the program’s tuition, valued at approximately $15,000, to pursue their MPPA degree at Cal Lutheran over the course of one year.

Congregational Partners in Education (CPE) Award

Application Required - This award allows congregations of any faith to assist outstanding students who have demonstrated a commitment to the life and work of their church. Cal Lutheran will match gifts from the congregation in support of a student enrolled full-time up to $2,500 per academic year.

Manken Family Scholarship

Automatic Consideration - The Manken Family Scholarship is available for our full-time Teaching Credential, Education Specialist Credential, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Credential students in the Graduate School of Education.

RISE Scholarship

Application Required - Are you a working parent pursuing a doctoral degree? The RISE (Radiant, Inspiring, Successful Educators) can help cover part of your tuition! A vision of four 2016 doctoral alumni, this scholarships helps alleviate financial costs of doctoral candiates who are also parents. Faculty from the Graduate School of Education will select the recipient of this scholarship in accordance with approved university policies and procedures.

Cal Grant Teacher Credential Benefits

Application Required - You may be eligible for this Cal Grant Extension benefit if you were awarded Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B as an undergraduate AND will be enrolled in the Teacher Education Program within 15 months of last term you received the Cal Grant. Please visit Cal Grants website for more information. The FAFSA or CADAA must be completed to be considered for this grant.

Golden State Teacher Grant

Application Required - The Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG) encourages students to consider enrolling in professional preparation program and commit to working at a priority school in California for either two or four years in accordance with the terms of the specific Service Agreement, within 6 years after completing their program and obtaining their credential from the date initial GSTG payments are made to the institution. The Grant program is a joint effort between individual schools and the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) that will award Golden State Teacher Grant funds to eligible students enrolled in an approved preliminary teaching or pupil personnel services credential program. Applicants must meet all terms and conditions of the GSTG program or be required to repay the grant. Applicants pursuing a teaching credential who are already in process of clearing a teaching credential, already hold a clear teaching credential, or are in an induction program are ineligible for the GSTG.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

Application Required - Graduate students in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) and Special Education Programs are eligible to receive the TEACH grant, which provides funds to students who agree to teach full-time for at least four years of an eight year period in a high-need field at a school serving low-income students.

Automatic Consideration - Graduate students in the MS in Quantitative Economics program are eligible for consideration for the Overton Scholarship, which assists graduate students with demonstrated academic excellence in their pursuit of postgraduate Cal Lutheran education in economics.
