"Much Ado About Nothing"
27th Annual Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival
In one of the region’s most popular outdoor theatrical events, the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company will feature Much Ado About Nothing. Please note that this coming season will begin a week earlier than usual.
Much Ado About Nothing, a comedy set in the sunny town of Messina, revolves around the witty and tempestuous relationship between Beatrice and Benedick, who engage in a battle of wits and repartee, initially masking their true feelings for each other. Meanwhile, the young and idealistic Claudio falls in love with Hero, and their impending marriage becomes the center of a malicious plot by the villainous Don John to sow discord and ruin reputations. Deception, misunderstandings and comedic elements ensue, but ultimately, true love triumphs as the characters unravel the schemes and find happiness. Much Ado About Nothing features clever wordplay, vibrant characters and exploration of themes such as love, honor and the nature of deceit.
Kingsmen Shakespeare Company is the professional theater company of Cal Lutheran. The nonprofit organization coordinates apprentice programs for professional and aspiring Shakespearean actors, an educational tour program in local schools, and summer theater camps for youth.
