Language Justice: Creating Equitable Multilingual Spaces in Our Community

Language Justice: Creating Equitable Multilingual Spaces in Our Community

How does your nonprofit ensure that every voice is heard and included in the work you do and how you do it? Join us on Zoom as we discuss how we can create more equitable multilingual spaces in our nonprofits and in our community, and why that is important.

Nayra Pacheco Guzman, a language-justice advocate, interpreter and translator, will help participants learn the differences between language access and language justice, and think through the practical steps of incorporating language justice into their work — from what to look for in interpreters to building more inclusive practices into their budgets. Participants also will get hands-on experience practicing the technology and techniques involved in facilitating an event with interpretation.

This workshop is for organizations at all levels in their language-justice journey, and will be facilitated and interpreted in English and Spanish.

The two-session workshop is free for members or $75 for nonmembers. Registration is required. Participants will receive a link to the Zoom sessions prior to the event.
